The Huxfords also owned “The Huxford Theater” in this Town as well as the Hotel, General Store & Bar that is now known as “The Red Rooster Pub” on corner of Jordan Road and Stump Road. David Huxford, was a descendant of the very talented Skaneateles artist “Marie Huxford Luce” (born in 1843 in Skaneateles, NY). Together they raised 4 children in that historic home. David Huxford, lived in the old Fennell house on the Corner of Fennell and Elizabeth Streets in the Village for over 70 years. Saving and collecting many unique treasures of local interest (and truly National interest). Her Skaneateles roots run deep in the area ! Teddy had a keen interest in Skaneateles history. Teddy attended Syracuse University and worked in her father’s Law Firm, “Weeks & Weeks” in Skaneateles. Theodora (Weeks) Huxford, affectionately known as “Teddy”, was a lifetime resident of Skaneateles.
